I have been looking forward to this day since I arrived in Ajijic! Wednesday is the day of the street market here and I love a street market! From Estrellita's, it only took me about 10 minutes to make my way to this weekly event There I found a lively crowd of Mexicans and Gringos shopping for bargains, or perhaps merely looking to run into friends. I recall that this was the place where I ran into cousins, Jack and Ginnie More, three years ago - and there they were again today. I also ran into six other people that I have met here in Ajijic. It is wonderful that this town is so small and that people are so very friendly. I looked for a few bargains while wandering alongside stalls selling anything from clothes to DVDs, from fresh produce to jewelry.

After about an hour, I returned to the B&B to change for an afternoon golf date with my sister and one of her friends. I hoped to be more effective on the course since I had access to better clubs and I had a little bit of experience with the course. Catherine, Donna and I were joined by Claudia, so we made a foursome for the first 9 holes at the Chula Vista Golf Course. It seemed very crowded with the four of us and our individual caddies. I must say that it takes some time to get used to having a caddie, but they can be very useful. Today I was teamed up with Pedro; I played better than Monday but I could not putt. Nothing new there.

On our return trip from the golf course, Donna invited us into her beautiful home with its stunning view over Lake Chapala. I had to take a picture. I suppose that inspired Catherine, because on our way to dinner later, we made a detour to another place where the views are spectacular: La Vitta Bella, a high end restaurant in a private area called the Raquet Club. Here the streets are named after legendary tennis players. |

Our ultimate destination was a restaurant called Viva Mexico in the town of San Juan Cosala. I wanted authentic Mexican cuisine and here I had it. I was encouraged to try the specialty of the house, Chile en Nogada - absolutely delicious!! It consists of a pepper stuffed with meat and topped with a walnut sauce and pomegranate seeds. I may have to try to make this sometime.
